Shipping Policy

1. Shipment processing times
All orders are processed within 3-5 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after the order is placed. Please note that during high-volume periods, processing time may take longer than usual.

 

2. Methods of shipping and delivery time
We only offer standard shipping; delivery times depend on the destination. The delivery times listed below are estimates and commence from the date of shipping, rather than the date of order. Delivery times are to be used as a guide only and are subject to the acceptance and approval of your order. Date of delivery may vary due to carrier shipping practices, delivery location, method of delivery, and the items ordered. Unless otherwise specified on this website or agreed with customers, products will be delivered within thirty (30) days from purchase.

Standard shipping times:

Belgium: 3 - 4 business days

Czech Republic: 4 - 5 business days

France: 3 - 5 business days

Finland: 6 - 7 business days

Germany: 3 - 4 business days

Ireland: 7 - 8 business days

Italy: 5 - 7 business days

Netherlands: 1 - 2 business days

Switzerland: 4 - 5 business days

United Kingdom: 5 - 6 business days

3. Costs

Shipping is free for all orders over €75.
 

For orders under €75, shipping costs based on the weight of your order. To find out how much your order will cost, simply add the items you would like to purchase to your cart, and proceed to the checkout page. Once you have reached the checkout screen, the shipping charges will be displayed. Additional shipping charges may apply to remote areas. You will be advised of all charges on the checkout page.


4. Shipping restrictions
We only ship to 
Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.


5. Tracking orders
Once your order has been shipped, you will receive an e-mail with a tracking number. You can track your order using the tracking number on the carrier’s website.

 

6. Delivery address

Deliveries are made to the address indicated by the user and in the manner specified in the order summary.

Upon delivery, users should verify the content of the delivery and report anomalies without undue delay, using the contact details provided on this website or as described in the delivery note.

7. Failed delivery

The Silly Scientist cannot be held responsible for delivery errors due to inaccuracies or incompleteness in the execution of the purchase order by the user, nor for any damages or delays after handover to any carrier arranged by the user and not offered or recommended by The Silly Scientist.

 

If the goods are not received or collected at the time or within the deadline specified, the goods will be returned to The Silly Scientist, who will contact the user to schedule a second delivery attempt or to agree on a future course of action.

Unless otherwise agreed, any delivery attempt starting from the second will be at the user’s expense.

 

8. Damaged or lost items

Users may refuse to accept the parcel if visibly damaged. If you receive a damaged item or your order is lost in transit, please contact us at info@thesillyscientist.com. We will work with you to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
 

9. Custom and import taxes

Any import duties or other customs clearance fees will be the responsibility of the customer. Whether or not you need to pay import duties and/or taxes depends on where you are located. Each country has their own rules for imported items and we advise checking this prior to ordering to avoid any unexpected costs.  To make it a bit easier, we have looked up the rules for some ‘major’ countries. Our predictions are as follows:

 

Customers from the European Union should not be required to pay any customs duties.

Customers in the United Kingdom should not be required to pay import VAT or customs duties if their total order amount remains below 135 GBP. When your order exceeds 135 GPB, you will be contacted by your local courier company to pay 2% import duties and 20% import VAT on the total amount, as well as potential delivery charges (‘handling fees’) before receiving your order.

 

Customers in Switzerland should not be required to pay import VAT or customs duties if their total order amount remains below 62 CHF, but may be subject to handling fees by the postal and shipping services who take care of all customs clearance formalities. When your order exceeds 62 CHF you will be charged an additional 8.1% import VAT.
